Today our walk was dedicated in honor of :

Navy Veteran Jake Flick, Age 47 of Hurricane, WV.
Died Jul. 22, 2022

Jake, a native of Pennsylvania, served our country in the U.S. Navy, and went on to work with veterans at the West Virginia VA as a doctor of psychology. He wanted to help as many people as possible, and he touched so many lives.

He enjoyed so much life has to give. He especially loved motorcycle rides, fishing/hunting, The Steelers, a nice glass of wine, Rick and Morty, working on his novel, and so much more. But his greatest accomplishment was his family.

Jake and Sarah met in college at IUP, and they were perfect for each other. I remember him telling me when I was a kid that he used to have this angel pin that he named Sarah Elizabeth. When he met my sister and found out her name was Sarah Elizabeth, he knew their love was meant to be. Life only got better when Max and Molly came along. He loved his family more than anything and was their biggest cheerleader.

Jake Flick, was killed in a motorcycle accident.

It was a great honor to walk 8.28 Miles with Navy Veteran Jake Flick today. We started out by walking uptown to the Veterans Memorial Park. We read several names of our Vietnam Fallen Brothers Names on the Memorial Wall. We then met up with Mac and Jill and we headed north to the interstate over pass. We met up with several people their at the overpass. Cumberland County Fire came out. It was such a great honor to actually get to talk and meet with some of the bikers in this very special event. Be sure to look them up “Run For The Wall”. It is such an amazing non profit organization. I was blessed and so honored to get to meet them. What they are doing is so amazing. We watched the bikers heading east and after they had passed I continued my walk. We walked back to Northside Drive and walked through the Gardens and then headed back to the house. What an amazing time we had. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 918 honks that I was able to keep track of. I am sure we had more but was so hard to keep track. It was just amazing. Thank you

Navy Veteran Jake Flick will not be forgotten !
