Pierre joined the U.S. Army in 1992. He was assigned to 22nd Battalion, 1st Defense Artillery; 4th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery; and 3rd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment. Pierre served for eight years as a Tactical Power Generation Specialist, responsible for operating and maintaining power-generation equipment and internal combustion engines in mobile and stationary power plants. He was honored with the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal, among many others.
Pierre was one of six children. He grew up playing baseball and football, followed WWE Wrestling, and was a big fan of He-Man. After military service, Pierre worked as a service manager for Sunbelt Rentals. The fine folks at the Goldsboro Fireman’s Club were his second family, and he was a member of the James A. Danner VFW Post 537. Pierre enjoyed most outdoor sports, especially kayaking, hiking, and fishing. But his heart truly belonged to his daughter. She was his pride and joy, and he bragged about her all the time! Once she became involved with soccer, Pierre coached the girls’ youth team for four years. Family meant everything to him. Spending long, lazy days at the river with his loved ones and faithful dog Bonnie was one of his favorite pastimes.

What a beautiful trail along the Frey Branch River. The weather was perfect. We got to see some birds and stop and listen to the water in several places. The views were amazing. Even though this trail was only a mile, it was just amazing. I want to thank Candy for joining us and helping us honor this hero.
