Our walk was dedicated in honor of :

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ WALKING WITH FALLEN HEROES β€” NAVY VETERAN JIM CROSS πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Let Us Never Forget Navy Veteran Jim Cross of Ladoga, Indiana.

Today, we had the honor of walking in memory of my Uncle Jim Cross, a World War II Navy veteran who served in 1945 and passed away on October 6, 2010.

Uncle Jim was much more than a veteran. He dedicated his life to serving his community. He served as the Town Marshal, a firefighter, a deacon at the Ladoga Christian Church, and worked with all the town utilities. He was a man who gave so much of himself to the town and the people he loved.

We headed out around 8:00 this morning on a brisk, cold day and made our way into town to begin our walk in his honor.

We walked past the fire department and police department, two places that represented the kind of service and dedication Uncle Jim gave to his community. From there, we made our way down Main Street, passing the Military Memorial Museum before stopping at Veterans Memorial Park.

While there, we took time to read the names of our Fallen Brothers engraved on the memorial wall. Each name represents a life, a family, and a sacrifice that deserves to be remembered. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

After spending some time at the memorial, we headed back north. But we couldn’t pass up stopping at the Crossville sign!

Whenever we visited with Uncle Jim, he would always tell us that Crossville was HIS town because his last name was Cross! πŸ˜‚ We always got a kick out of that, and it was only fitting that we stop there during our walk in his memory. It’s little memories like these that stay with us long after someone is gone.

We continued north and turned west at the bakery before making our way back home. Along the way, we had the opportunity to visit with and thank a fellow veteran who was sitting in a mobility chair. It was a special moment and another reminder of why we do what we do.

Today’s walk was truly amazing.

We walked 5.57 miles and received 265 honks from people who waved, honked, and saluted as we passed. Every honk was a little reminder that people care, that our veterans are not forgotten, and that these heroes deserve to be honored.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to acknowledge our walk today. Your support means more than you know.

I also want to give a special thank-you to Fallen Hero SGT Ryan Isom for helping us honor my Uncle Jim today. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Uncle Jim spent his life serving his country, his community, his church, and the people around him. Today, we took a few miles to remember him, share his story, and make sure his service and sacrifice are not forgotten.

Uncle Jim, it was an honor to walk for you today. We will always remember your service, your dedication, and that wonderful sense of humor about Crossville being your town.

Let us never forget Navy Veteran Jim Cross.
