He was a member of the VFW Post 1982 and American Legion Post 365. He was a parishioner of St. Marcellus Catholic Church and a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7050. Ray was a longtime member of the New Iberia Boat Club, Ancient Order of Creole Gourmets and was the scoutmaster of Troop 4 on Weeks Island for 17 years.
He was retired from M.A. Patout and Sons where he was the chief electrician. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, reading and camping.
