He was an electrician then and served on a the USS Oriskany and on the Navafria among others. In 1970 he went to Naval Dive School in San Diego and spent the rest of his career as a Navy Diver. He retired from the navy but re-enlisted To help start the US Naval Diving & Salvage Training Program at Panama City Beach, Florida. He finally retired after 24 years of service as Chief Electrician Saturation Diver. He was a diver on and off shore for a few years but then joined the Merchant Marines on a ship leased to the government to carry troops and munitions during the Gulf War. He served 20 years in the merchant marines but serving our military. He had numerous sail boats of his own and spent much time sailing. In the end he died from mesothelioma contracted from his time in the Navy.
