Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran Jim Kerns, Age 68 of Harriman, TN.
Died Dec. 16, 2015
Jim was a Army Vietnam Veteran of the 101st Airborne Division.
His burial flag was bought at a yard sale for $5 and was donated to me on Jan. 19, 2026. I now have his flag and it will be displayed with my fathers and step fathers flag.
It was a great honor to walk 5.73 Miles with Army Veteran Jim Kerns today. It was 7 deg. when we started out this morning. We walked to West Ave and headed towards town. We made a stop at the CF store and visited with several of the homeless. We then made a stop by the Fire Station and then headed for main street. Our next stop was the Veterans Memorial Park and then we headed back towards the house. When we got back to the house I had to sit in front of the heater for about 5 min to let the ice melt off my beard so I could take my mask off. It was froze to my beard. We carried his burial flag with us on his walk. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved and saluted. We got 304 honks today. Thank you. I also want to thank Marine SGT Eriq Aquino for helping us honor this hero today.
Army Veteran Jim Kerns will not be forgotten !
