Our walk today was dedicated in honor of :
Air Force Veteran Matthew V. Goodman, Age 27 of Kannapolis, NC.
Died Jul. 8, 2023
Matthew joined the Air Force in 2015. Graduated boot in San Antonio, TX.
After a short time in the Air Force he came home and went to College. He bacame a Firefighter and an EMT. Worked with many Firehouse’s. He was once a Firefighter of the year. His last Fire Station was ladder 34, station 3, Kannapolis, NC.
Matthew helped his other firefighters and went out beyond his duties. They were very proud of Matthew and even gave him a nickname – Goober.
It was a great honor to walk 5.70 Miles with Air Force Veteran Matthew V. Goodman. It was around 50 deg. and a little windy when we headed out this morning. We headed down West Ave and made our way towards town. We walked by the fire station and then over to main street. We then made a stop in at the Veterans Memorial Park where we read several names of our Fallen Brothers on the Memorial Wall. We then headed back north and headed back towards the house. Not many people out this time of day but I want to thank those that did wave and honk in helping me honor this hero. We had 16 honks. It was a great walk. This is the very first walk that I have started in the dark and ended in the dark. I have never done this in over 6 years of walking. It was amazing. I also want to thank Air Force SRA Ollie Faure for joining our walk and helping us honor this hero as well.
Air Force Veteran Matthew V. Goodman will not be forgotten !
