Our hike today was dedicated in honor of:
Army SPC Isaiah O’neal, Age 22 of Tyner, NC.
died Nov. 26, 2021
The 22-year-old wheeled vehicle mechanic was assigned to the 25th Brigade Support Battalion, part of the 25th Infantry Division’s 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team. He joined the Army in November 2017, and his individual awards included the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.
It was a great honor to hike 2.14 miles today with Army SPC Isaiah O’neal. Today we hiked the Pioneer Short Loop Trail in the Cumberland Mountain State Park. We had a beautiful morning to hike. The temp. was in the 50’s and the sun was bright. We hit the trail and stopped to talk to a few people that was out enjoying the trail. I have walked this trail a few times over the years. The first time I walked this trail was 31 years ago. So hiking it today had brought back some good memories. I want to thank Candy for hiking with us today and helping us to honor this Fallen Hero. I also want to thank PV2 Joshua Dommes for joining us and helping us to honor this hero. It was amazing.
