Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:

Army MSGT Jerry Michael “Mad Dog” Shriver, Age 27 of Sacramento, CA.

MIA Apr. 24, 1969

Jerry “Mad Dog” Shriver was an exploitation platoon leader attached to Command and Control, South, MAC-V Studies and Operation Group, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces during the Vietnam War. He was part of a team that performed top-secret, deep penetration missions of strategic reconnaissance and interdiction into NVA strongholds. On one such mission on April 24, 1969, the team came under heavy fire. Shriver was last seen moving against an enemy machine gun bunker. He maintained radio contact for four hours, until transmissions were cut off. He was never seen or heard from again and was declared Missing in Action.

It was a great honor to walk 6.01 Miles with Army MSGT Jerry Michae Shriver. We walked west past the Air Port and walked down Earl Jones Road. We met up with Ty and his father and had a great visit. We then headed back to the house. The weather was perfect for a walk. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 375 honks today. It was amazing. I also want to thank CPL Wyatt Hatcher for joining us and helping me honor this hero.

Army MSGT Jerry Michae Shriver will not be forgotten !
