Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Army SGT William R. Brock Jr., Age 19 of Wartburg, TN.
KIA Oct. 8, 1944 World War II

SGT Brock was killed in action in France. He had been overseas less thean two months. He was a member of the 69th Infantry. He was a member of the Wartburg Baptist Church and employed with TVA at the time he entered service.

SGT Brock was assigned to 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division.

He was awarded the Purple Heart

SGT Brock is buried in the Wartburg Cemetery.

We had a great 6.25 Mile walk today. We did our walk in Wartburg, TN. We started out at the WECO Radio Station and our first stop was at the Court House to read his name up on the Memorial Wall. We then headed to the Wartburg Cemetery to visit his grave. We visited his grave and several other Veterans and then we headed back towards down. We then walked out on Hwy 27 and then back to the radio station. It was a cold walk. We got to see snow, rain, and sunshine while on our walk. We had a great time. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us and I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 31 honks. It was amazing. I want to thank WECO Radio Station for putting our info out over the air.

Army SGT William R. Brock Jr. will not be forgotten !
