Our hike today was dedicated in honor of:
Army Veteran Caleb Ashton Terry, Age 34 of Grandview, TN.
Died Mar. 9, 2025
Caleb served our country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his son, Colton Reece Terry; parents, William Henry Terry III and Kimberly (McElvain) Terry; brother, Levi Dalton Terry; sister, Kristin Emily Loshbough (Anthony); nieces and nephew, Dalton Loshbough, Isabelle Loshbough, Arial Loshbough, and Allie Jo Loshbough; maternal grandparents, Claude and Sy McElvain; paternal grandparents, Freddy and Patricia Algee; aunts and uncles, Jennifer and Ronnie McCloud, Melanie and Bruce Halpenny, and Wesley and Mallarie Algee; cousins, Jacob, Taylor, Alex, Zachary, Lilly, Maggie, Luke, and Wilder.
Caleb is preceded in death by his son, Brenton Fisher Terry; and paternal grandfather, William Henry Terry, Jr.
Today was a truly special day as we came together for a hike to bring awareness to Veteran Suicide while honoring the life and memory of Army Veteran Caleb Ashton Terry.
It was a great privilege to hike 2.96 miles along the Byrds Creek Trail in Cumberland Mountain State Park in Caleb’s honor. I want to sincerely thank his parents, Kim and Hank, for joining us on this meaningful walk. It was also an honor to have Lily, Candy, and CPL Wyatt Hatcher with us as we remembered this American hero together.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. Although parts of the trail had become overgrown and several fallen trees reminded us that nature is always changing, nothing could take away from the beauty of the day. The songs of the birds echoed through the forest, and the gentle sound of Byrds Creek flowing beside us created a peaceful atmosphere that words can hardly describe. As we walked, I couldn’t help but feel that Caleb was right there with us, sharing every step along the trail.
When we returned to the parking lot, a couple of passing drivers even gave us a few honks of support. Those simple gestures reminded us that every act of remembrance matters and that people are paying attention to our mission.
Today was more than just a hike—it was a promise that Caleb’s memory will continue to live on. Every step we took was filled with honor, respect, and remembrance.
Army Veteran Caleb Ashton Terry will never be forgotten.
