Our hike today was dedicated in honor of:

HIKE #11 OF 22 — BRINGING AWARENESS TO VETERAN SUICIDE

Today was another very special hike, and another opportunity to make sure a Fallen Hero is remembered.

Today’s hike was dedicated in honor of Navy SN Alexis Lynn Johnson, age 23, of Commerce City, Colorado.
Alexis passed away on February 21, 2021.

Alexis chose to serve her country in the United States Navy, where she worked as a Logistics Specialist (LS).

But Alexis was so much more than her military service.

She was the second oldest of eight children, a loving and outgoing person who was always willing to help anyone in need. She was a daughter, a sister, and most importantly, a mother.

Alexis loved her twins deeply and somehow made being a mother look easy. Her family describes her as an amazing daughter and sister, and a person whose presence brought love to those around her.

Today, we walked for all of those who knew and loved Alexis.

We walked for her family.

We walked for her children.

And we walked so that her name would continue to be spoken.

Today’s hike took us along the Fairfield Glade Paved Trail and the Library Trail. It was a beautiful day to be outside, and it was especially meaningful to be able to experience two different trails in Alexis’s honor.

There is something special about walking.

Every step gives us another opportunity to remember someone.

Every mile gives us another opportunity to tell their story.

And every time we speak a Fallen Hero’s name, we help make sure they are never forgotten.

I want to give a very special THANK YOU to our hiking friend Donna for joining us today and helping make this hike even more meaningful.

I also want to thank Fallen Hero HT2 Michael Fonseca for joining us and helping us honor Alexis today.

This is why we keep walking.

22 hikes. 22 opportunities to remember. 22 opportunities to bring awareness to Veteran suicide.

Behind every name is a life.

Behind every life is a family.

And behind every family is a story that deserves to be remembered.

Today, we remembered Navy SN Alexis Lynn Johnson.

Alexis, your service mattered.
Your life mattered.
Your family matters.
Your story matters.

You will NOT be forgotten. 🇺🇸
