He served with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam.

PFC Bolter was killed in action when he sustained wounds from an explosive device. His body was recovered.

We had a great 6.14 Mile walk today. We walked up to the War Memorial Park down town and back. The weather was perfect. I want to thank my friend Robert for walking with us today and I want to thank all who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 142 honks. It was amazing. Thank You.
