Today our walk was dedicated in honor of:

Air Force Veteran Eddie R. Baker, Age 86 of Pomona, TN.
Died Feb. 9, 2016

Mr. Baker moved to Pomona as a young boy and attended Pomona Grade School. He later graduated from Cumberland County High School in 1947. He joined the United States Air Force in 1948 as an enlisted man, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was later commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1955 after completion of the Aviation Student Program and he retired as a Captain in 1968 with 20 years of service. He saw duty during the Korean and Vietnam wars and served in both Asia and Europe.

After retiring from the military, he worked 10 years in the Los Angeles Air Traffic Control Center at Palmdale, CA. He returned to Crossville in 1978 and worked for 15 years in the United States Postal Service at the Crossville Post Office as a rural mail carrier.

We had a great 7.99 Mile walk this morning. The sky was amazing as we started our walk this morning. We headed west on Sparta Hwy and we walked to his grave in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Pomona. What a beautiful day for our walk. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 189 honks this morning. It was amazing. Thank you.

Air Force Veteran Eddie R. Baker will not be forgotten !
