Army SSgt. Angel Gerardo Green, Age 24 of Evans Mills, NY.
Died Sep. 17, 2021
Today we honored Army Staff Sgt. Angel Gerardo Green with a hike on the Windless Cave Trail in Crossville, Tennessee, to help bring awareness to veteran suicide.
Staff Sgt. Green was only 24 years old when he passed away on September 17, 2021. Born in San Bernardino, California, he was an outstanding athlete before fulfilling his lifelong dream of joining the U.S. Army in 2015.
During his military career, Angel served with the 10th Mountain Division and completed two combat deployments to Afghanistan. He earned his Combat Infantryman Badge, graduated from Air Assault School, and quickly rose through the ranks by demonstrating exceptional leadership and dedication. His goal was to attend Ranger School, become a Command Sergeant Major, and serve his country for a full Army career.
Those who knew Angel remember him as a loyal friend, devoted husband, talented woodworker, and someone who always made others feel safe, loved, and protected. His legacy of service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
A heartfelt thank you to Candy, Donna, and Army Veteran Codey Donahue for joining me in honoring this American hero today. The hike was peaceful, beautiful, and a fitting way to remember a soldier who gave so much.
