Our walk today was dedicated in honor of:

Army Veteran Larry W. Aytes, Age 79 from Haughton, LA.
Died Sep. 30, 2022

Vietnam War Veteran

Army SGM Aytes joined the Army in 1963 and retired on Jan. 8, 1991.
He spent the majority of his career at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. and in Germany working on Air Defense Artillery. He was also stationed at HHB 4/7th ADA in Germany. His last promotion was to SGM Aug. 1, 1989.

During his career he earned the Army Commendation Medal (20LC), The National Defense Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal (8th award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (5), and Overseas Service Ribbon (5).

We had a great 11.17 Mile walk today. We walked by Holiday Hills Lake as we headed to town to the War Memorial Park. We read a few names on the War Memorial Wall and then we headed to the Crossville City Cemetery where we visited around 20 of our Fallen Heroes. We then headed out on Cook Road. We made a stop at the Frost Cemetery to visit a Fallen Hero before ending our walk at the house. I want to thank my friends Candy and Robert for walking with us today. I want to thank everyone who honked, waved, and saluted in helping us honor this hero today. We had 233 honks today. It was an amazing walk and a perfect day for our walk. Thank you.

Army Veteran Larry W. Aytes will not be forgotten !
