Our walk today was dedicated in honor of :

Army Pfc. Corey L. Hicks, Age 22 of Glendale, AZ.
KIA May 2, 2008

PFC Hicks was assigned to 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died May 2 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.

His duties included exploding roadside bombs before other soldiers came across them.

Hicks had a passion for animals and the rodeo. He worked as a mechanic before joining the Army in 2007 and hoped to fix up a truck when he returned.

He is survived by his father, Russel Hicks Sr., and mother, Dawn Settle.

It was a great honor to walk 5.77 miles with Army Pfc. Corey L. Hicks. We headed east on Sparta Hwy and took West Ave towords town. We stopped by the city fire station and then made our way over to main street. We stopped in at the Veterans Memorial Park where we read several names of our Fallen Brothers on the Memorial Wall. We found two painted rocks. We then continued our walk heading north on main street until we reached the Bakery and then we headed back towards the house. I want to thank everyhone who honked, waved and saluted in helping me honor this hero. We had 334 honks today. It was amazing. I also want to thank Marine PFC Morgan Daly for helping us honor this hero today. It was amazing. Thank you

Army Pfc. Corey L. Hicks will not be forgotten !
